The Ravenna Method, also known as the double-reverse technique, offers mosaic artists a versatile third option-- beyond the direct and indirect methods, for making a mosaic. It is an ideal technique for both recreating ancient mosaics and creating modern works. Students will make two mosaics during this 5-day workshop. The first will be made using specific images from iconic ancient mosaics and include setting smalti and/or marble tesserae into a temporary clay bed before transferring
