OSAKANA on St. Marks Place in the East Village runs hands-on sushi classes every Sunday afternoon for beginners and curious cooks. Students learn to make nigiri, maki, and temaki from scratch, using rice prepared in class and fish sourced fresh that morning from the adjacent fish counter. All supplies including nori, sushi rice, and fish are included and the class ends with a shared tasting of everything made during the session.
