The glazing and finishing workshop at Columbia Heights Ceramics teaches students how to apply glaze effectively to bisque-fired pieces using brush, dip, and pour methods, and how to predict the outcome of different glaze combinations after the kiln firing. The instructor explains the chemistry behind why glazes behave differently depending on application thickness, firing temperature, and the clay body underneath, giving students the knowledge to make informed creative decisions rather than just choosing by color. Students bring their own bisqueware or work on studio practice pieces provided for the class.
