The Lowcountry cooking class at Charleston Cooks teaches the defining dishes of coastal South Carolina cooking including shrimp and grits, she-crab soup, and Frogmore Stew using traditional techniques and locally sourced ingredients where possible. The instructor covers the history and cultural context of each dish alongside the cooking method, so students understand why the recipe works the way it does rather than just following steps. Students eat the meal they prepared together at the end of class, which makes the evening feel like both a lesson and a dinner party.
