Makeville Studio's greenwood spoon carving class teaches you to carve a functional wooden spoon from a split log using traditional hand tools including a hook knife, straight knife, and hatchet, with the instructor demonstrating technique and safety at each stage. The process is surprisingly meditative and the result is a tool you can actually use in your kitchen. Three-hour session at the 14th Street Brooklyn shop, all tools and wood stock provided, no experience necessary.
