Voice in creative nonfiction is the combination of diction, syntax, and rhythm that makes one writer's sentences sound immediately different from another's. This workshop puts three excerpts with strong, distinct voices in front of you and reverse-engineers what technical choices create each effect. You write one page in your own voice and one in an imitated style to understand how voice can be both discovered and constructed.
