Participants learn fundamental hand-tool carving techniques using gouges, knives, rasps, and files to shape a hardwood spoon from a blank. The class covers wood selection, grain characteristics, and carving safety, with finishing and sanding techniques demonstrated as time allows. Instructor Atlas Thomas has formal training from Pratt Institute, and NYC Resistor's open Craft Nights give participants a place to come back and continue their project after the class.
