The Southern Food & Beverage Museum houses the Deelightful Roux School of Cooking, which runs hands-on Creole and Cajun cooking classes on multiple days each week in the Culinary Innovation Center. Each class includes a meal prepared by participants, admission to the museum galleries, and a curator-led tour of the exhibits tracing the history of Southern food and drink. Chef Dee leads the sessions with a relaxed teaching style that covers foundational techniques like making a roux, seasoning with the trinity, and building the flavors common to the Louisiana kitchen.
