House Wine is a women-owned South Austin wine bar that has been operating since 2008 and runs a recurring Wine Tasting 101 class where a sommelier guides a small group through five different wines alongside a cheese plate. The theme changes each session — one week might cover natural French pours, another might focus on boutique California bottles — all chosen from small-production, sustainable wineries. Located in a converted 1940s house on South 1st Street, the casual atmosphere makes it a comfortable spot to learn without the stuffiness of a formal tasting room.
