The San Diego Watercolor Society has promoted watermedia painting in San Diego since 1965, operating a light-filled education center and gallery at Liberty Station in Point Loma. Adults can enroll in a six-workshop beginner series that runs twice yearly, covering techniques from color mixing and wet-on-wet washes through landscape, still life, and portraiture, with all materials supplied. The organization's gallery presents a new juried exhibition each month and is free to visit, making it a place where students can study professional watercolor work alongside their own instruction.
