A 75-seat black-box performance space and classroom in the Bywater, Big Couch runs multi-week improv comedy courses for adults at all levels that teach the foundational principles of "yes, and" listening and spontaneous scene work in a low-pressure, supportive setting. Courses typically run six weeks and culminate in a short performance set in the venue's theater, giving students an actual stage experience as a concrete goal for the material they practice in class. Weekly free Saturday jams give students outside of formal coursework a chance to drop in and practice long-form improvisation with a welcoming community of performers.
