Northern Clay Center's glaze and surface design class introduces the chemistry behind ceramic glazes and covers decorative techniques like wax resist, sgraffito, slip trailing, and underglaze painting. Students work on bisque-fired test tiles and small vessels they have either brought from a previous class or provided by the studio. The Thursday evening session at the Northeast Minneapolis facility is well-suited for students who want to develop their surface decoration vocabulary.
