A Monday afternoon hand-building class at the Clay Center that teaches the three foundational non-wheel techniques, pinch, coil, and slab construction, through a single focused project sequence that lets students experience how the methods compare and complement each other in practice. Instructors explain how surface texture, wall thickness, and structural support differ between the three approaches and guide students toward the method best suited to the form they want to create in future sessions. Clay, tools, and firing are included, and students can leave their work to be glazed and kiln-fired at the studio's next scheduled firing cycle.
