The Austin School of Furniture's Thursday evening workshop focuses on hand-cut joinery - mortise and tenon, dovetails, and half-laps - using traditional hand tools and bench chisels. Students work through a set of practice joints that build muscle memory for the most useful connections in furniture making. The school's shop is outfitted with quality hand tools and the instructors are working furniture makers who bring real craft experience to the teaching.
