Handbuilding Pottery: Kurinuki Technique

Kurinuki is an ancient Japanese carving method in which a finished vessel is excavated from a single solid block of clay, and this two-hour workshop teaches the process from block preparation through interior hollowing and surface refinement. The Color Cocktail Factory instructor demonstrates each step and circulates throughout the session to offer individual feedback as you develop your own bowl, cup, or sculptural form. Pieces are glazed and fired in the studio kiln and ready for pickup within two weeks of the session.
