Lost wax casting allows jewelers to create three-dimensional forms that would be impossible to fabricate from sheet metal, and this introduction teaches you to carve a simple ring or pendant form from jeweler's wax. You learn to use wax carving tools, files, and flexible shaft tools to refine the form before it is sent for casting, and you discuss what changes when the wax becomes metal. Your finished wax is cast and returned to you at the next session.
