SMAart Studio's Raku workshop is a dramatic outdoor firing experience where you glaze a ceramic piece, load it into a small kiln, and pull it out glowing red-hot to place in a reduction chamber filled with combustibles, producing the unpredictable metallic and crackle patterns that make Raku unique. The class covers the history and technique of Raku firing alongside the hands-on process, and the effects on each piece are different every time. All materials, a pre-made bisque form to glaze, and outdoor firing equipment are provided.
