Jazz Improvisation Workshop: Introduction to Standards

About this class

New York Jazz Workshop's Monday evening improvisation class puts you in an ensemble with other adult students from day one, working through a jazz standard together rather than doing exercises alone. The instructor explains the harmonic structure of the tune and how to navigate it while the group plays, so you hear the theory in context immediately. The four-session series meets for two hours each Monday evening, and new students receive a one-time membership card granting access to the school's other workshops.
