Latte Art Basics focuses entirely on the skill of texturizing milk and pouring it into espresso to create free-pour patterns, starting with the heart and building toward tulips. You steam pitchers of milk in the lab, learn to read the sound and feel of properly textured milk, and practice the wrist motion that makes patterns appear rather than muddy blobs. Most students pour a recognizable heart by the end of a two-hour session.
