A welcoming class for adults of all backgrounds and body types that teaches the footwork, swagger, and parasol technique of the New Orleans second line, connecting each step to the brass band tradition and neighborhood parade culture from which it grew. Students work through the foundational movements in a progressive sequence, building rhythmic footwork first, then adding upper body expression and the signature bounce that carries the spirit of the tradition, under instruction from teachers who are active participants in the city's second line community. No dance experience is required, and the class is specifically structured to feel inclusive and celebratory rather than technically demanding from the first day.
