Slab Pottery Workshop

About this class

McCheek's Studio slab pottery workshop teaches students to roll flat clay slabs and construct functional forms including mugs, plates, bowls, and small vessels using template guides and hand-shaping techniques. The instructor covers clay preparation, rolling to consistent thickness, assembling pieces with scored-and-slipped joins, and simple surface texture methods that make the finished pieces look considered rather than accidental. Students leave with one or two assembled greenware pieces ready for bisque firing.
