Introduction to Relief Printmaking

About this class

Second State Press in Northern Liberties offers an introductory relief printing class covering the fundamentals of woodcut and linocut: how to transfer a design, carve safely, ink the block, and pull a clean print. Students learn to recognize grain direction and carving resistance so they can develop their designs with confidence rather than guessing. Each participant finishes the class with multiple printed editions of their own hand-carved block to take home.
