Taught by Christine Gardner, this Saturday morning workshop at fishschool introduces the Japanese decorative running stitch technique known as Sashiko, traditionally used to reinforce fabric and create geometric textile patterns. Students work through foundational Sashiko designs including waves, hemp leaf, and tortoiseshell patterns on indigo fabric using white thread, leaving the session with a finished textile piece and a new hand-stitching skill. All materials are included and no prior sewing experience is required.
