This one-day workshop provides an introduction to two iconic Japanese art forms: chado, the contemplative practice of the tea ceremony, and ikebana, the meditative art of floral arrangement. Participants experience a simple guided tea preparation and then work with seasonal flowers to create their own ikebana arrangement to take home. Both practices are presented in the context of their cultural history, making this class a meaningful way to connect with Japanese aesthetic traditions.
