Every Monday morning at 11 AM, Royal Hawaiian Center invites guests to join a free lauhala weaving demonstration and class in the Royal Grove, taught by Native Hawaiian cultural practitioners. Lauhala, the leaf of the hala tree, has been woven into baskets, hats, and mats in Hawaii for centuries, and this class is an accessible introduction to the weaving patterns and techniques that have been passed down through generations. No reservation is needed; simply arrive at the Royal Grove in Waikiki a few minutes before the start time.
