Saturday Hawaiian Quilting Class

About this class

Poakalani and Co. teaches traditional Hawaiian quilting every Saturday morning at the Higashi Hongwanji Mission in Liliha, just one block from the Original Liliha Bakery. Students learn the distinctive applique style unique to Hawaii, where symmetrical floral and geometric patterns are cut from a folded piece of fabric and hand-stitched onto a contrasting background. New students begin with a 22-inch cushion kit that gives you a manageable first project to master the technique before moving on to larger bed-sized quilts.
