Corky Carroll's Surf School

Corky Carroll's Surf School has been running surf lessons from Bolsa Chica State Beach in Huntington Beach since the 1960s, making it one of the longest-running surf schools in Southern California. Every session is taught by certified instructors on soft-top boards, with all equipment including wetsuit, board, and leash provided at no extra charge, so you just need to show up in a swimsuit. Private lessons run two full hours, beginning with beach instruction on stance, paddling, and pop-up technique before moving into the water for guided wave riding on actual breaking waves.
