Center for Fiction

The Center for Fiction in Downtown Brooklyn is one of the few institutions in the United States dedicated entirely to the art of the novel and short story, operating an 85,000-volume lending library alongside a full schedule of writing workshops and expert-led reading groups for adults. Their guided reading groups are structured around a specific author, theme, or literary period and led by published authors, editors, and professors who frame discussion around narrative craft rather than just shared opinions. Writing workshops run six-week sessions taught by MFA-credentialed instructors, and participants develop and receive feedback on original fiction in every class.
