Write Your Best Joke

About this class

Everyone has jokes in them (the frustrations, the observations, the stories that make friends laugh) but most people don't know how to shape that material into something a stranger would find funny. This workshop teaches the structural mechanics of written comedy: how to find the twist your brain already knows is there, how to trim a joke to its essential surprise, how to land the right word at the right moment. You'll workshop three actual jokes in a low-stakes, high-feedback environment. Bring a notebook and something that annoyed you this week. All levels welcome.
