About this class
The darkroom is where analog photography becomes tangible, where a chemical reaction on paper makes an image appear in a tray of developer under red light. In this four-hour session you'll develop exposed film from scratch (loading the tank in complete darkness, timing the chemistry, fixing and washing your negatives), make contact sheets under the enlarger, select your best frame, and make a final exhibition-quality print. Your instructor teaches you how to read a negative, how to dodge and burn (lighten and darken areas of a print with your hands and a card), and how to judge a finished print. You leave with developed negatives and a mounted darkroom print. All film, chemistry, paper, and darkroom time included.
