Introductory Sailing Lesson

About this class

This 90-minute introductory sailing lesson puts you on a keelboat in Newport Harbor with a certified ASA instructor and two to three other students, where you take the helm, handle the sails, and learn the fundamentals of steering, tacking, and jibing on real water. The lesson is hands-on from the start, the instructor demonstrates the concept, then you do it, and the pace is adjusted to the group so beginners are not rushed through steps they have not absorbed. Marina Sailing is part of the American Sailing Association certification system, so this lesson feeds directly into the ASA 101 Basic Keelboat course if you want to continue.
