Hand building is the pottery technique that does not use a wheel, you use your hands, coiling, slab rolling, and pinch pot methods to build forms directly. This 90-minute session covers the main hand-building techniques and lets you build a small vessel or sculptural piece with guidance from the instructor throughout. It is a good entry point for people who are nervous about the wheel, and many students who start with hand building end up coming back specifically for it rather than switching to throwing.
