Level 1 Improv (8-Week Course)

About this class

The eight-week Level 1 course at The PIT is where performers who want to actually be in shows begin their training. Each two-hour class builds on the last: the first month focuses on scene fundamentals (agreement, character, emotional truth, and the game of the scene); the second on structural forms: the Harold, the Montage, and narrative long-form. You'll receive detailed feedback after every scene and finish the course by performing in a student show on The PIT's main stage. Many of New York's working performers started in this room. Class sizes are capped at 12 for maximum stage time. Some prior improv exposure helpful but not required.
