The beginner liveball clinic at Santa Monica Tennis Center is structured around continuous play and real-time coaching rather than static ball-machine drills, putting you in game situations from the start and letting the instructor correct technique as you actually hit. Groups are NTRP 1.5–2.0 rated so everyone in the class is at a comparable level, and the 90-minute format is long enough to get past warm-up and into actual improvement. Rackets are available to borrow if you do not own one, and the clinic runs multiple times per week so it is easy to work into a regular schedule.
