About this class
Saddle stitching (the hand-stitching technique used in fine leather goods) is stronger than machine stitching because both sides of the stitch are independent: if one thread breaks, the other holds. In this three-hour workshop you'll cut panels from full-grain vegetable-tanned leather, punch the stitch holes with a pricking iron, thread two needles simultaneously, and saddle stitch the card holder closed using the classic lock stitch. You'll also learn to bevel and burnish the edges to a smooth, finished surface. The result is a card holder you can carry for decades and recondition rather than replace. All leather, thread, tools, and finishing supplies provided.
