Bettie's Chicago's cake decorating class covers crumb coating and final coating a layer cake with buttercream, using offset spatulas and bench scrapers to achieve a smooth finish, and then piping a basic border and a few decorative elements using piping bags and round and star tips. The format is project-based, meaning you decorate a real cake rather than practice on a foam dummy, and you take your decorated cake home. No prior baking or decorating experience is needed.
